Secret Revealed!
The Most Authentic DULCE DE LECHE is now in
the UK
The British Argentine Chamber of Commerce organised yesterday at the
Argentine Embassy in London the event called "Dulce de Leche: Argentina's
best kept secret".
Mr. Vicente Berasategui, Ambassador of the Argentine Republic, opened the
event introducing this exquisite sweet spread made with the purest argentine
full fat milk and sugar. He spoke about the history and folklore behind it and
the its meaning for the argentine people.
This event signalled also the launch of the SAN IGNACIO brand in the UK. The
President of Establecimientos San Ignacio S.A., Mr. Carlos Ignacio Cassanello,
introduced his company, which was founded by his grandfather in the '30s and it
is now the largest producer of industrial dulce de leche in the world.
The prospects of Dulce de Leche in the UK were presented by Mr. Andrés
Kiceleff, of Building Bridges Ltd. importers of argentine fine foods. His
presentation "Why the UK will love Dulce de Leche" explained the
competitive advantages of the product vis-à-vis other sweet spreads, as well as
the different sectors where dulce de leche will help NPD decisions:
confectionery, ice creams, bakery, etc.
After a tasting of both industrial and home-made products made with dulce de
leche, Mr. David Palmer, Director of David Palmer Catering presented the view of
a profesional chef and explained the different uses of this versatile product.
At the event there were people from a variety of industries, including
manufacturers of cakes and biscuits, ice creams, etc, as well as buyers for
supermarkets and independent stores.
